Two Workshops Papers at AVI 2024

We presented two workshop papers at AVI 2024 this year on our ongoing PRIN projects.

The first paper is entitled ‘End-User Development for eXtended Reality using a Multimodal Intelligent Conversational Agent’ by Valentino Artizzu, Alessandro Carcangiu, Marco Manca, Andrea Mattioli, Jacopo Mereu, Fabio Paternò, Carmen Santoro, Ludovica Simeoli, Lucio Davide Spano.

It was presented during the RealXR workshop, organised by the EUD4XR project in collaboration with the University Carlos III Madrid, University of Calgary and University of Upper Austria. The paper discusses the methodology adopted in the project that uses an intelligent conversational agent to assist end-user developers (EUDevs) in creating XR experiences. The agent, understanding voice, gaze, and pointing, provides contextual help, demonstrates concepts, suggests components, and explains errors to minimize misunderstandings.

The paper is available on CEUR WS.

The second paper is entitled ‘Mitigating Human Errors and Cognitive Bias for Human-AI Synergy in Cybersecurity’ by Federico Maria Cau and Lucio Davide Spano.

It was presented during the First International Workshop on Detection And Mitigation Of Cyber attacks that exploit human vuLnerabilitiES (DAMOCLES), organised by DAMOCLES PRIN consortium. The paper reflects on how AI and XAI are enhancing cybersecurity by predicting and responding to threats, with IUI integration improving user interaction. However, mitigating human errors, especially cognitive biases, remains a significant challenge.

The full text of the paper is available on CEUR WS.
