Valentino Artizzu has received his PhD

We are happy to announce that Valentino Artizzu successfully defended his thesis and has been awarded the title of PhD. The entire CG3HCI group congratulates him for this significant milestone not only in his academic journey but also in the broader field of XR research

Under the supervision of Prof. Lucio Davide Spano, Valentino’s work focused on democratizing the creation of XR experiences, empowering users—both novices and experts alike—to build, understand, and interact with virtual environments through intuitive and intelligent tools.

His contributions include the development and validation of several innovative systems:

  • ECARules4All – a Unity-based plugin enabling rule-based customization of XR templates.

  • XRSpotlight – a toolkit for inspecting, understanding, and transferring interactions in XR environments through natural language.

  • ViRgilites and BeatriXR – systems providing indirect and direct feedforward to guide users within XR tasks, combining user-centered design with AI assistance.

  • Valentino’s research stands as a powerful example of how technology can be made more accessible and expressive. We are incredibly proud of his achievements and look forward to the impact his work will have on the future of XR.

Congratulations, Dr. Artizzu! 🎓🚀
